The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) on Tuesday, filed a police complaint against Bharatiya Janata Party president Amit Shah accusing him of using his power to “subvert the rule of law” and legitimise himself in the public discourse.
The complaint was filed at Parliament Street police station.
100 districts of 28 States
Ruchi Gupta, joint-secretary of All India Congress Committee and NSUI in-charge said the NSUI had filed complaints in 100 districts of 28 States to bring to light Mr. Shah’s “criminality”.
“There is an attempt being made to reincarnate Mr. Shah, as modern-day Chanakya. We will not allow this. The NSUI will continue raising the criminality of the BJP president in front of the public,” said Ms. Gupta.
‘A state of fear’
In the complaint addressed to the SHO,the NSUI requested the police to file an FIR against Mr. Shah to restore common man’s faith in the system as “a state of fear and intimidation looms over the people of the country”.
The NSUI listed four cases in which Mr. Shah was allegedly named as the “accused”.
“The lawlessness is taking over the country as thugs and criminals are killing with impunity under the protection of BJP. At this time, it is important for an organisation like NSUI to speak truth to power,” NSUI said.
