Discussion with Vice-Chancellors of Government Universities
Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal, Governor Smt. Anandiben Patel has said that universities should also focus on improvements in infrastructure for improving NAAC grading, besides paying special attention to students’ happiness. She said that universities should try to implement the schemes of UGC Grants and various departments of the state government, from which those grants can be obtained from those departments.
Smt. Patel said this while discussing the NAAC Grading and RUSA Project with Vice Chancellors of the government universities. On this occasion, Additional Chief Secretary Higher Education B.R. Naidu, Commissioner Higher Education Ajit Kumar, Additional Secretary of UGC, Dr. Smt. Renu Vatra and Secretary to the Governor Bharat P Maheshwari and Vice Chancellors were present.
Governor Smt. Patel said that all the universities should try to organize their convocation ceremonies for the upcoming academic session 2018 by month of December. She issued instructions to the Vice-Chancellors to plan at least 150-days programme in a year from October 2, 2018, under ‘Gandhi 150’ and to organize flag hoisting and cultural events on August 15 in their campus.
She instructed the Additional Chief Secretary Higher Education B.R. Naidu to form a committee in this regard. The Governor said that students should be taken on a tour all those places in the state where Gandhiji has visited and also make a unit for women.
She said that students should also develop a sense of challenge for the Prime Minister’s I am Fit-India Fit Challenge. She said that for this, competitions including races, cycling and other challenging sports contests should be organised for the students from the universities, colleges and students from the primary to high school.
She told that the students should search on Google for information on competitions organised on Yoga Day all over the world, organize more yoga competitions and make efforts to create world records in Yoga and get the name of the state entered in the Guinness Book.
Governor Smt. Patel said that in countries like China and Japan, there is demand for Yoga Gurus from India. For this, not only should yoga classes be given to the students in the university, but students should be trained in Chinese and Japanese by translating yoga in Chinese and Japanese languages so that they can get employment in foreign countries. The Governor told to prepare complete information of the status of education of Class IV students of the University and send it to Raj Bhavan.
The Governor said that for the exchange of the cultural groups of the children of Madhya Pradesh and Manipur under the Ek Bharat- Shreshtha Bharat, at least 10 students should be made to translate and memorize 10 words in Manipuri language.
She said that there should not be any complaint regarding the improvement of the roster and management of all the universities. About adoption of villages, the Governor said that students should be made to research on whether benefits of the state and central government schemes are reaching the beneficiaries or not and the complete report should be sent to the Raj Bhavan.
On the occasion all the universities told in detail about the difficulties being faced in high NAAC grading and the improvements needed in it.
