Postal department to conduct letter-writing contest

The Department of Posts is conducting a national level letter-writing competition on the theme- Letter to my motherland.

According to a statement on Tuesday by Chief Post Master General (CPMG) K.Balasubramanian, under the competition, Dhai Akhar, letters should be handwritten in English or Hindi or a local language (Telugu).

The competition is for the age groups - up to 18 years and above 18 years- having two categories each- inland letter card (ILC) & envelope.

Candidates should write letters in not more than 1000 words for the envelope category and 500 words for the ILC on A-4 sheets. Top three letters in each category would be shortlisted by the circle office and sent to the Directorate for the national level competition.

The prizes at the circle level include ₹25,000 for the first prize, ₹10,000 for the second and ₹5,000 for the third. At the national level, the winner would get ₹50,000, the runner-up ₹25,000 and the second runner-up ₹10,000.

Letters have to be addressed to the CPMG, AP Circle, and sent between July 15 and September 30. Participants have to attest to their age on their letter saying - I certify that I am below / above the age of 18 as on January 1, 2018.
