Roja Maligai: Another addition to the horror genre in Tamil

Debutant director R Gautam awaits the release of his horror film, Roja Maligai this Friday. Shot in and around Ooty, the film is about the travails of a young couple who are about to enter wedlock.

Outlining the plot, Gautam tells us, “The girl gets an old estate as a gift from her grandfather. In a happy frame of mind, the bride-to-be chooses to spend a few days in this estate with her fiance. But then, she stumbles upon one truth after another and what transpires is an experience that leaves her and those around shellshocked.” The director, who also plays an important character in the film, says mixing in comedy in the horror film was intentional.

“However, once the soul enters the body of the lead man, all the thrilling action will unfold,” he adds. With newcomers Amaran and Mumbai model Urvashi playing the leads, the director confesses he is counting on the experienced supporting cast, that includes Devadarshini, Marudhu Mudhu, Nizhalgal Ravi, Aadukulam Naren and Devisree, to sustain the audience’s interest through the two - hour runtime
