Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) will introduce passes with fare discounts for regular passengers on Thursday.
An official release, which described these as “long awaited products” for passengers who travel by the metro daily, said KMRL MD Mohammed Hanish would officially launch the passes at the Edappally station at 11.30 a.m.
These are fare products that could be added to the Kochi1 card for travel between two fixed stations, and will be of two types. One for 30 trips will be valid for 30 days and the other for 60 trips valid for 60 days. The pass for 30 trips will come with a discount of 25%, and the one for 60 trips 33%, on the original fare.
One pass at a time
Only one pass can be added to one Kochi1 card at a time. The pass can be issued for travel between any two stations chosen by passengers at the time of issuance and the trip will be accounted for when the passenger travels from either of the stations up to the other station. Entry and exit from the same station will also be counted as one trip.
The penalties and other surcharge amounts will be deducted as per rules applicable to Kochi1 cards.
