A day after Punjab Government dismissed Ferozepur DSP Daljit Singh Dhillon, the tainted cop was arrested on Tuesday on the charges of forcing a Ludhiana woman into drugs and sexually exploiting her.

Dhillon was remanded to the four-day police custody after he was produced in the Mohali court on Tuesday evening.

Only a day before, the Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh has issued dismissal orders against Dhillon under provisions of Article 311 of the Constitution.

Dhillon was earlier placed under suspension on June 28, following charges of pushing a 28-year-old Ludhiana woman into drugs. His dismissal orders came after legal examination of a fact-finding inquiry conducted by IPS officer and Phillaur Punjab Police Academy’s director Anita Punj, and based on the woman’s statement.

In the inquiry, the officer was found indulging in “morally corrupt” activities while posted at Tarn Taran and “misusing his official position and powers vested in him as a gazetted police officer” by “raping” a girl and “alluring her into drugs”.

The probe has further been entrusted to a special investigating team (SIT) headed by Arunpal Singh, IGP (crime), Sanmeet Kaur, AIG (investigation), and Rakesh Kaushal, commandant.
