Poor to get relaxation in power bills

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the state government has opened the treasury for the welfare of the poor. Now, part of the budget will be provided for the poor in proportion to their population in the state. A new and unique revolution is taking place in Madhya Pradesh for poor’s welfare and to give them justice, which is being witnessed by the entire country.

Chouhan was addressing the State Level Inaugural Function of Saral Bijlle Bill Yojana and Mukhya Mantri Baqaaya Bijlee Bill Maafi Yojana under the Mukhya Mantri Jan-Kalyan (Sambal) Yojana here on Tuesday. He also presented electricity bill arrears waiver certificates to the beneficiaries in the programme.

Chouhan has said that people were not able to get electricity during the tenure of previous government. We have made arrangement for sufficient electricity. Poor suffered from electricity bills’ arrears more than the electricity bills. Therefore, the state government has decided that electricity bill of poor labourers should be waived off by holding camps in the month of July and August and they should be given certificates of zero electricity bills.

This is being started in the entire state from today. Under this, electricity bills of more than Rs 5000 crore of poor will be waived off. Thereafter, they will be given monthly electricity bill at the flat rate of Rs 200 to enable them to light 4 bulbs and to use 2 fans, one cooler and one TV Free electricity connections will be provided to poor, who do not possess electricity connections presently.

Chouhan further stated that the Lord has created earth for all. Everyone has rights over the resources but few people have become rich. They possess enormous wealth. The remaining population remains poor and facing difficulty to make both the ends meet. The state government has prepared several schemes for the welfare of poor. Late Pt Deendayal Upadhayaya used to say one can seek God by way of service to poor.

The state government is working for poor. Method has been adopted to distribute money among the poor for their welfare and to eradicate poverty by imposing tax on wealthy people.  People’s pleasure at the cost of hard work of poor is not correct. Full justice and rights will be given to poor. Whoever, do labour and hard work, whatever caste and religion he or she belongs to are poor. Even farmer holding less than 2.5 acre land is poor.
