Kokrajhar : Atleast  eight cattles were killed in lightning strike last night at Gandabil under Kachugaon Police station in Kokrajhar district.

The cattles were tied in cattle sheds where the lightning strike killing eight of them. The cattles belongs to one Amrit Basumatary. He estimate the loss of around 3 lakhs.

Over a dozen people were killed and many injured in lightning every year in various parts of the district. His year atleast three people have died after struck by lightning.   It has also claimed lives of many cattle, inflicting heavy losses to marginalised and poor farmers.
