Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has condoled the death of eight persons in the fire accident. He instructed the District Collector to take up relief and rehabilitation measures for victims immediately. He announced ex-gratia of ₹5 lakh to the families of the deceased.
Expressing shock over the loss of life in the accident, Mr. Rao conveyed his condolences to bereaved families and promised medical care for the injured at government expense.
Leaders of all political parties also visited the fire accident site. They also visited the MGM Hospital to console the injured undergoing treatment there.
Former minister Ponnala Laxmaiah speaking to newsmen at the MGM Hospital urged the government to take stringent action against those responsible.
“It is very pathetic to see so many die. The State government should protect the families,” he said.
Bharatiya Janata Party urban president Rao Padma Reddy condoled the death of workers and wanted the government to verify if the unit had proper license and provide suitable compensation to the kin of those killed.
Telugu Desam Party leader Ega Mallesham echoed similar feelings and demanded that the government register a case against the unit owner.
City police commissioner V. Ravinder said they would inquire into the cause of the accident and take stringent action against the owner.
