RANCHI: Kolebira MLA Enos Ekka was on Tuesday sentenced to life imprisonment for killing para-teacher (temporary teacher) Manoj Kumar in November 2014. Ekka was convicted in the case on Saturday.

Dhanesh Badaik, an operative of banned left-wing extremist group PLFI, was also sentenced to life in jail with Ekka.

The 49-year-old lawmaker will become the fourth MLA in Jharkhand to lose membership of the assembly for being convicted in a criminal case. Ekka, who served as a minister in the Madhu Koda and Arjun Munda governments, has been in jail since his arrest in 2014. He contested and won the assembly elections that year from prison.
