NEW DELHI: Equity markets on Wednesday overcame a sedate start to close on a positive note.

Sensex closed at 35,645.40, up 266.80 points while the broader 50-share NSE Nifty went 70 points in the green to finish at 10,769.90.
The Street opened flat in the morning session as Nifty tested the 10,700- levels , where it had closed in the previous session.
However, investor sentiments gained momentum in mid-day trade on back of auto, financial service and pharma sector stocks. IT and PSU Bank stocks took mild hit on the other hand.
