Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur today hailed the Centre's decision to hike the minimum support price of 14 kharif crops.
Terming it as a historic decision, he said the long pending demand of the farmers for last two decades had been fulfilled by the Modi government.
This decision would also prove to be milestone to accomplish the target of the Union government to doubling the income of farmers by 2022, he added.
Thakur said this decision of the Union government would benefit the farmers of Himachal Pradesh. Ninety per cent population of the state was dependent on agriculture and allied sectors, he said.
This would certainly give a major boost to the farmers' income, he claimed.
