Gangadhar Chadachan case: Luminol test to be done

CID sleuths probing the alleged abduction and murder of Gangadhar Chadachan, 28, in Indi taluk of Vijayapura last year, have decided to conduct a luminol test on the blood stains at the crime scene and in the vehicle used to transport his body. To date, four local policemen have already been arrested.

The FSL team, after conducting the luminol test to gather DNA, will match the evidence with DNA from Gangadhar’s family. This will confirm that the samples collected from the scene belonged to Gangadhar.

CID officials said they hoped the luminol test, will help them uncover “substantial evidence” in the court to shed more light on the case. The local police have been accused of allegedly “handing over” Gangadhar to his rivals, who are believed to have killed him and disposed of the body in the Bhima river on October 30, 2017. This was done soon after Gangadhar’s elder brother, Dharmaraj Chadachana, 32, was killed in an alleged fake encounter the same day. A probe by the Vijayapura police indicated that the arrested policemen had taken supari for the two killings.

The case was handed over to the CID on June 16, 2018, and officials believe the test will allow them to collect blood samples for DNA testing. “The blood samples found at the crime scene would be present for a year even though the area was washed repeatedly. In cases like this where there is no trace of body, luminol test would come in handy,” a senior officer said .
