Village road washed away in rain in Gajapati

Three bikers were injured as a road was washed away in rainwater at Kujasingh village in Rayagada block in Gajapati district on Monday night.

Three persons, Pabitra Gamang, Bhima Mandal and Loka Mandal of Kujasingh were going on the road connecting to a culvert on the Kujasingh-Jagannath Road when the road developed a breach. They were soon to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) and were still undergoing treatment. They were stable, doctors said.

Knowing about the incident, a team of district administration officials rushed to the spot to take of the situation. Directed by the district administration, the Rural Development department began repairing work on Tuesday afternoon. “The road will be repaired within 48 hours,” said RD Executive Engineer Shridhar Nayak.
