Language not being ignored: Pandiarajan

Tamil Official Language Minister Ma Foi K. Pandiarajan on Tuesday told the Assembly that all south Indian languages, including Tamil, would be featured on the National Digital Library of India, created by the Union Human Resources (HRD) Ministry.

Countering Opposition leader M.K. Stalin who accused the Centre of spreading hatred by hosting only English, Hindi and Sanskrit, Mr. Pandiarajan said the three languages had been included in the user interface design as a pilot project.

“Tamil has not been ignored. I sent a mail to HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar and I am in receipt of a reply. Soon, all the Southern languages including Tamil would get a place in the library. We will give the intellectual property rights of the 10,000 books of 149 authors,” Mr. Pandiarajan said.

Mr. Stalin said it was condemnable that Tamil was not given a priority while one crore books of three lakh writers had been hosted on the portal.
