Nabs 23-year-old who was targeting a businessman from A.P.

An alert traffic constable nabbed a 23-year-old man who was attempting to steal a bag from a businessman from Andhra Pradesh on the busy N.R. Road in Kalasipalya on Monday.

Constable Prashanth, attached to V.V. Puram traffic police, was on duty at N.R. Circle on Monday evening when he observed a car pull up near the kerb.

The businessman stepped out carrying a bag. As he walked away from the car, a man began following him and also dropped a few currency notes near his feet.

He then informed the businessman that he had dropped some money and asked him to pick it up. While the businessman began searching his pockets to see if it was indeed his money, the man grabbed his bag and started running away.

When the businessman started shouting for help, Prashanth chased the thief and pinned him down. The culprit was identified as Suresh, 23.

The businessman retrieved his bag, but left without filing a complaint.

According to the police, Suresh is from Chennai in Tamil Nadu. He was working with an accomplice who was able to give the police the slip.

“Suresh is part of a gang that comes to the city every day to rob people after diverting their attention,” said a senior police officer.
