Cong MLAs seeks loan waiver for landless members of agricultural societies

A delegation of the Congress party MLAs on Tuesday called on Punjab Cooperation Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa on the issue of loan waiver of the landless members of the agricultural societies.

The delegation members demanded that the loan waiver be granted to those landless members of the agricultural societies who have availed loans up to Rs 25,000.

The Minister assured the delegation that the matter would be thoroughly probed and would be taken up with the Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh.

The delegation also praised the Government’s decision of waiving off loans up to Rs two lakh pertaining to the small and marginal farmers.

Besides, the MLAs demanded that the loans of those members of the agricultural societies, who belong to the landless, SC, ST, or BC category, be waived off who have availed these up to the level of Rs 25,000.

Randhawa gave a very patient hearing to the delegation members and assured them that he would look into the matter from all aspects very minutely and take up the same with the Chief Minister for a positive solution.

The delegation included MLAs Gurkirat Singh Kotli, Navtej Singh Cheema, Lakhvir Singh Lakha, Gurpreet Singh GP, Harpratap Singh Ajnala, Sukhpal Singh Bhullar, Dalvir Singh Goldy, Harminder Singh Gill, Barinderjit Singh Pahra, Dharamvir Agnihotri, among others.
