High pressure mixed gas fuel consumption starts: BSP

The Universal Rail Mill , Bar and Rod Mill have started consuming high pressure mixed gas fuel at Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP), a company press release informed on Tuesday.

Gas Mixing and Booster Station is built for this purpose at Energy Management Department under 7 MT Modex plan, it informed.

To meet the gas requirement of Modex Mills, EMD has successfully commissioned the Mixed gas Booster’s (four in numbers) which are capable of supplying gas upto 80000 m3/hour at 800 mmwc pressure.

This gas is used for heating the blooms and billets at walking beam furnaces of Modex mills. This will ensure uninterrupted gas availability to the consumers and improve productivity.

The Gas Booster station is designed and built by Oriental NICCO Projects Pvt. Ltd. The consultant for new gas mixing station is MECON, Bhilai and the project was executed by Projects (Utility-Zone) coordinated by D.K. Pouria (DGM) and G.S. Wadhwa (Sr Mgr).

Entire job was monitored and guided by team EMD consisting of  C. Chandrasekhar DGM (Mech), B. K. Sinha DGM (Elect), Y.Y.Konnur AGM (Opr). Excellent support was provided by Instrumentation, INCOS and PSD, the press release informed.

Good support was extended by GM (Project-Utility), GM I/C (Services) and DGM I/C (EMD) for timely completion of the job, it informed.
