LUDHIANA : A police constable died, while two persons — including a woman — suffered serious injuries, after the two bikes they were riding on suffered a
head-on collision near Dholan village on Raikot-Jagraon Road on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Nirbhay Singh of Cheema village, posted as constable at the District Police Lines in Jagraon. The injured man was identified as Iqbal Singh.
Police officials said Nirbhay was on his way to his workplace in Jagraon on his two-wheeler, when a bike coming from the opposite side near Dholan village — with Iqbal and the woman — collided with his bike. The trio were rushed to Jagraon Civil Hospital by Jagraon MLA Sarabjit Kaur
Manuke, where doctors declared Nirbhay dead.
Cops said Iqbal and the woman who had suffered serious injuries were later referred by doctors to a Ludhiana Hospital. They added that the condition of the duo remained serious.
