A tigress has given birth to three cubs recently and their movement noticed in the Kagaznagar forest area, forest officials said today.
The movement of the cubs was identified today, they said.
Earlier, the tigress gave birth to four cubs in 2016.
"The last tiger census was done in January this year. We are yet to get the exact number of tiger population in the state. The data is being compiled," he said.
The second litter was noticed in April 2018 and subsequently photographed on April 24.
"In June end, we confirmed the litter size to be three cubs. Phalguna has added seven tigers to Adilabad landscape," the official told PTI.
The growth of the cubs would monitored and precautions would be taken to preserve wildlife from poachers, he said.
According to a government release, local residents were sensitised on tiger movement and dissuaded from retaliatory killing in case of cattle kills.
Telangana Forest Department has intensified monitoring in Kagaznagar to prevent poaching and habitat loss, among other things.
Capacity building of existing staff is being undertaken and posting of trained wildlife officers on priority was being considered, the release added.
