Four persons suffered injuries after the
SUV they were travelling by crashed into the railing along Somatne overbridge on Mumbai-Pune Expressway around 6am on Tuesday.
The impact of the
accident was such that the railing pierced through the vehicle's front windshield to come out of its rear, an officer from the
Talegaon Dabhade police said.
The accident occurred when the car was heading towards Mumbai from
Kolhapur. "There were four persons in the vehicle, of which the condition of two is critical, while the other two are out of danger. They are receiving treatment at a private hospital," the officer said.
The police have identified the injured as Amol Patil (39), Shrimant Bhonde (45), Prakash Vaigade (45) and car driver Suryaji Bhonde (39) from Mira-Bhayander.
A medical officer of the private hospital said Shrimant and Prakash have sustained serious injuries.
