CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (Tanuvas) on Tuesday released the rank list for admissions to veterinary courses in the 2018-19 academic year. Counselling might begin in the fourth week of July, Tanuvas vice-chancellor Dr C Balachandran said.
This will be the last academic year when admissions to veterinary courses are done based on Class XII marks. From next academic year onwards, admissions will be based NEET.

Educational consultants have said the cut-off for open category students is likely to fall to 197.25 from 198.75 in 2017.

This year, 11,948 students will compete for 288 B Vsc (academic) seats. Besides, 159 students from vocation stream would compete for 59 seats. There are 94 seats in food, poultry and dairy technology.

The university allocates 15% of its total seats to the Veterinary Council of India and 5% of seats to those candidates who studied vocational courses. While the Veterinary Council of India would get 54 seats and those from the vocational stream would be allocated 18 seats, Balachandran said.
