SC puts onus of checking mob violence on states

The Supreme Court today put the onus on the states to check incidents of mob violence saying no one can take the law into their hands.
The top court reserved its verdict on a plea seeking formulation of guidelines to curb such violent incidents in the country.
Taking serious note of mob violence, a bench of Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justices A M Khanwilkar and D Y Chandrachud said that it cannot be confined to any particular motive.
The bench said, they will pass an elaborate order in this regard on the petition.
