Vadodara: Dahod police seized counterfeit currency notes of face value Rs 1.74lakh from three persons near the Itadi village of Sanjeli taluka. The notes were identified as they were of the same serial numbers.
Three persons including Jignesh Patel and Zubin Patel from Ahmedabad as well as Devendra Parmar from Gandhinagar were stopped by the police on Monday night during a checking drive. The police found a large number of currency notes distributed between the three. The notes were of Rs 2,000, Rs 500 and Rs 200 denomination.

It came to light that the notes were fake and were brought from a person in Maharashtra. The accused also stated that they were going to a person in Dhalsimal village, also in Dahod district, to exchange them for original currency notes of half their denomination.

The police has started investigations to identify both the source of the notes as well as the person who was to procure them from the three persons who were held.
