Over 3.05 lakh people in Haryana applied under PMAS

As many as 3.05 lakh people in Haryana have applied for housing under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.

“A survey was conducted in the state under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana under which 3.05 lakh people had applied and of which 2,20,565 proposals were forwarded to the Central Government for approval,” said Haryana Urban Local Bodies Minister,  Kavita Jain while talking to the mediapersons here on Monday.

“The work on verification of remaining applications is under progress. 67 per cent houses would be covered under ‘Housing for All’ scheme and work on all housing schemes would be completed within time limit in the state,” she said.

Highlighting the achievements of her Department on Monday, Jain claimed that 9269 community and public toilets have been constructed in the state during the Swachh Bharat campaign.

Apart from this, a target has been set to get constructed toilets in 71,000 houses of which 53641 toilets have been constructed and the work on remaining would soon be completed. Simultaneously, all community and public toilets is being linked with Google Maps, she said.

In about four years tenure, the present State Government has allocated budget amounting to Rs 15828.39 crore to municipalities of which Rs 9780.84 crore has been released, she added.

Jain also said that Urban Local Bodies is an autonomous body. It was being considered to release bond to increase its revenue. For this, the local bodies would be given credit ratings for better performance. Bonds would be issued on the basis of the credit rating, she added.

On implementation of the Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Act, 2014 under National Urban Livelihood Mission, she said that an agency has been given the work to conduct survey for identification of vendors. The survey work has been completed in 78 municipalities and 81,383 vendors have been identified.

The work to allot smart ID cards to vendors would be  completed by August 15. Apart from this, draft vending plan of  eleven cities has been prepared, she added.

On ensuring security, Jain said that work on installation of CCTV cameras in municipalities is under progress and the installation work has been completed in Panchkula and Karnal. The installation of CCTV cameras is under progress in Sonipat.

Apart from this, Rs 60 crore has been approved for installation of CCTV cameras in 14 municipalities, she added.

About unauthorized colonies in Haryana, the Minister said that a proposal was made for regularisation of 910 unauthorised colonies in which 506 colonies were found eligible as per rules and in principle approval is given to 452 colonies and 76 colonies were notified.

Jain also claimed that the drinking water supply was being strengthened at a cost of Rs 487 crore in 18 cities under AMRUT Yojana.

The Chief Minister has so far made 601 announcements for municipalities of which 140 have been completed and work is under progress on 256 announcements.

Apart from this, preparations have been made to start work on 182 announcements, she added.
