WASHINGTON: Michael Jackson's father Joe Jackson was laid to rest at a private funeral in America's California state.

According to TMZ, the funeral service was organised at Forest Lawn in Glendale, California, where the pop king Michael Jackson was also laid to rest.

During the funeral, the extended family of Michael Jackson, including Janet Jackson came to pay their last respects.

On June 27 Joe Jackson passed away at the age of 89 after the architect of 'Jackson 5' died following a battle with terminal cancer.

Joe was known to have paved the way for the success of son Michael Jackson and daughter Janet Jackson, along with the group 'Jackson 5'.

Over the years, Joseph suffered from a number of ailments, including dementia, stroke and at least one heart attack.

He was also injured in a car accident a year ago.

Father of 11 children, Joe became a controversial figure when stories about his abusive behaviour as a parent were reported by media.
