Five nabbed after shootouts, three during checking drive

NOIDA: Eight criminals were arrested from different parts of Greater Noida during a checking drive on Sunday.

In the first case, cops from Surajpur police station arrested two men during a checking drive near Jaitpur roundabout. According to the cops, a Hyundai Santro was signalled to stop at the roundabout. Instead of stopping, the accused- Pravin Kumar, Pawan Kumar, Tanuj Bhati and Manoj - tried to abandon the car and flee the spot. One of the accused also open fired at the cops and when the cops retaliated, a bullet hit Pravin's leg.

The cops managed to nab Pravin and Pawan immediately while the other two managed to escape.

Meanwhile, all police stations were alerted and the fleeing men were nabbed by Knowledge Park police from Saqipur.

In another case, a 25-year-old criminal - who has seven cases registered against him in Noida and Ghaziabad-was arrested from Greater Noida West by Bisrakh police after a shootout. A motorcycle and a country-made pistol were seized from him. In yet another case, three other wanted criminals - Omprakash, Kishan and Amit Kumar were arrested by the Ecotech III police on Sunday during a routine checking drive.

All eight accused were produced in court and sent to jail.
