PATNA: The railways introduced a fully air-conditioned weekly superfast
Humsafar Express (22317/22318) between Sealdah and Jammu Tawi on Tuesday. The train runs on the Asansol-Dhanbad-Gaya-Mughalsarai route with a load combination of 19 coaches, including 16 AC three-tier coaches, a pantry car and two brake vans.
According to East Central Railway (ECR) chief public relations officer (CPRO) Rajesh Kumar, the new train made an inaugural run from Jammu Tawi at 12.30pm on Tuesday and will reach Sealdah at 11.45pm on Wednesday. The new Humsafar Express will leave Sealdah at 1.10pm every Monday and reach Jammu Tawi at 11.30pm the next day. On its return journey, the train will leave Jammu Tawi at 7.25am every Wednesday and reach Sealdah at 5.45pm on Thursday.
“The train will stop at Ludhiana, Ambala Cantonment, Saharanpur, Moradabad,
Bareilly, Lucknow, Varanasi, Mughalsarai, Gaya, Dhanbad and Asansol stations,” CPRO said.
Ticket checking: The ticket-checking squad of the Danapur division under the ECR conducted a drive on the Rajgir-New Delhi Shramjeevi Express (12309) on Monday and realized a fine of Rs 43,695 from those without proper tickets. Nine wait-listed passengers on the train were also detained at Mughalsarai, while another passenger was handed over to the Mughalsarai GRP for prosecution due to non-payment of fine.
Farewell function: A function was organized for 20 railway employees, who had retired from services on June 30, at Danapur DRM Ranjan Prakash Thakur’s office on Monday. Senior railway officials of the division were also present on the occasion.
