VUDA has constituted six teams of revenue employees and its staff to take up a fresh survey of encroachments in 144.75 acres at Vepagunta, according to VUDA Vice-Chairman P. Basanth Kumar.
The constitution of teams followed the request made by Pendurti MLA Bandaru Satyanarayana Murthy to take up a fresh survey during the visit of MA & UD Minister P. Narayana in May after which a meeting was convened by the District Collector on the issue.
The land measuring 144.75 acres had been acquired by VUDA in 1981-82 under Integrated Development Project Scheme and the total compensation amount of ₹.32.37 lakh deposited in the court under the Land Acquisition Act following a title dispute between the Simhachalam Devasthanam and tenants.
In 2015, the State Government had issued orders declaring that the entire land belonged to Simhachalam Devasthanam and was entitled to compensation with no share for tenant or occupant.
Subsequently, at its board meeting in April 2016, VUDA resolved to constitute a committee with the VUDA Vice-Chairman as convener for specific recommendations to the board on regularisation of encroachments.
A survey had been carried out.
The fresh survey follows the MLA’s request stating that there was a variation in the extent and occupants.
