34-year-old Rajesh was murdered at Madavoor, near Kilimanoor, 3 months ago

The police have submitted the chargesheet in connection with the murder of former radio jockey 34-year old Rajesh alias Rasikan Rajesh in Madavoor, near Kilimanoor, three months ago. The chargesheet was filed in the Attingal Judicial First Class Magistrate Court II on Monday.

The case pertained to the murder of Rajesh, who was hacked to death by a gang at his recording studio in Madavoor on March 27 at 2.30 a.m. His friend Kuttan, 50, of Vellalloor, who was also brutally attacked, managed to escape and alert local residents. The investigation team had managed to record the first arrest in the case on April 5.

As many as 12 people, including the first accused and Oachira native Abdul Sathar, a Qatar-based businessman, had been arraigned as accused. However, efforts that were made by the police to secure his arrest through Interpol turned futile owing to a travel ban, imposed by the Gulf country, in connection with an alleged financial irregularity. The other accused, who have been included in the chargesheet, were J. Muhammed Salih alias Ali Bhai, 26, of Oachira; Appunni alias Appu, 32, of Kayamkulam; K. Thanseen, 24, of Karunagappally; Sanu Santhosh, 33, of Sakthikulangara, Kollam; A. Yaseen, 23, of Oachira; S. Swathi Santhosh alias Spadikam, 23, of Kundara; J. Abey John, 27, of Kundara; Appunni’s brother-in-law Sumith, 31, of Chennithala; his wife Bhagyasree, 29; Appunni’s partner Sibilla Sony, 38, of Vennala, Ernakulam; and Sathar’s partner Shijina Shihab, 34, of Varkala.

The purported relation that Rajesh had with Abdul Sathar’s wife had allegedly led to the murder.

The victim, who had worked in a FM station in Doha, maintained contact with the woman after his return to his native place. The investigation was led by Kilimanoor Inspector Station house officer (SHO) S.V. Pradeep Kumar under the supervision of Attingal DySP P. Anilkumar. The chargesheet included 146 witnesses, 81 documents, and 73 evidences.
