Minister Arya stresses on steady loan recovery

The transport, social welfare and minority affairs minister Yashpal Arya took a review meeting of the Uttarakhand Multipurpose Finance and Development Corporation at Vidhan Sabha auditorium on Monday.

In the meeting, the Minister expressed dissatisfaction with the progress of the recovery of the loan distribution in the last three years under the 20-point programme and directed the officials to increase the volume of the recovery  and reduce NPA of the corporation. He emphasised the need of effective propagation of the schemes among panchayat members, village pradhans  gram sewak and public representatives about subsidy being given in Multi-Purpose Finance Development Corporation operated and funded schemes.

Arya suggested that in addition to cow, buffalo and  goat rearing, the corporation should operate schemes in the new areas like organic farming, mushroom products, fishery production, floriculture and bee keeping.

It was instructed in the meeting that the schemes which are not practical should be discontinued after reviewing them. The officers of the corporation were instructed that the BDC members must participate in the meetings and special incentive should be accorded to promote traditional handicraft schemes which will benefit the lower sections of the society and will help prevent migration from the mountainous areas.

Arya said that special incentive should be given to the women self-help groups. It was decided that special loan distribution camps would be organised in Dehradun and Haldwani this month. Chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat would be present in these camps.

The managing director of corporation V Shanmugam, general manager Yogendra Singh Rawat and deputy general manager S S Rawat were among those present  at the meeting.
