England v Colombia: Kane, Vardy, Henderson, Alli and Lingard chosen to take penalties

Harry Kane penalty
England captain Harry Kane has scored two of his three goals in Russia from the penalty spot

Step forward Messrs Kane, Vardy, Henderson, Alli and Lingard, your country needs you.

With England facing Colombia in the World Cup last 16 (19:00 BST) knowing penalties could be required to decide who will progress to the quarter-finals, we asked which players would you most want stepping forward for Gareth Southgate's side.

Captain Harry Kane, after netting twice from the spot in the 6-1 group stage win over Panama, predictably leads the way and was included in 99% of your selections.

If you were asked to decide, the Tottenham striker would be joined my Jamie Vardy (68%), Jordan Henderson (65%), Dele Alli (65%) and Jesse Lingard (31%).

England penalty takers

The Three Lions have the worst shootout record in the tournament's history, having lost all three of the ones they have been involved in (West Germany 1990, Argentina 1998 and Portugal 2006).

Manager Gareth Southgate says he has been working since March to prepare his side for such an eventuality, adding that it is important his players "own the situation".

In contrast, Fabian Delph (2.7%), Danny Rose (2%) and Phil Jones (1.5%) prop up your table of possible penalty takers - all three with fewer votes than goalkeeper Jordan Pickford (3%).

Here are the records of those England players who have taken penalties in club and international football:
