NSUI files police complaints against BJP chief Amit Shah

NEW DELHI: The Congress students wing NSUI filed police complaints against BJP chief Amit Shah across 100 districts in the country alleging he was implicated in several criminal cases.

"There is an attempt being made to reincarnate Amit Shah, a street thug, as a 'modern-day Chanakya', but, we will not allow this to happen. The NSUI will continue raising the criminality of the BJP President in front of the Indian public," Ruchi Gupta, AICC joint secretary in charge NSUI said in a statement.

The police complaint addressed to the SHO, Parliament Street Police Station, New Delhi, said that on November 26, 2005 as then Minister of Home Affairs in Gujarat he directed IPS officer DG Vanzara to orchestrate the encounter of one Sohrabuddin Sheikh. Further, Shah violated the privacy of a woman and misused his position by directing police to snoop and carry out surveillance of a woman at the behest of then Gujarat CM.

Another charge in the complaint refers to the death of Judge Loya, who was hearing the Sohrabuddin fake encounter case, on the night of December 1, 2014. Shah is an accused in the case. The fourth charge is that Shah is director of the Ahmedabad District Co-operative bank which received the maximum deposits worth Rs 745 cr in five days after demonetisation in November 2016. Youth Congress too staged protests in Delhi against the Modi government's failure to create the promised 2 crore jobs per year.
