TRS neglecting tenant farmers: CPI(M) leader

The State government is trying to undermine the safeguards enshrined in the Tenancy Act of 1950 for tenant farmers and scrap the system of issuing loan eligibility certificates to them, alleged CPI (M) State secretariat member P. Sudarshan Rao.

Addressing the party mandal committees’ secretaries at a meeting here on Tuesday, Mr Rao slammed the TRS government for allegedly denying investment support to lakhs of tenant farmers under the Rythu Bandhu scheme, thereby “aggravating” their plight.

He charged the TRS dispensation with adopting vindictive attitude towards the tenant farmers, who constitute a major chunk of real cultivators, those actually bearing the brunt of agrarian crisis. “The government should desist from undermining the rights of tenant farmers and extend investment support to them under the Rythu Bandhu scheme,” he demanded.

CPI (M) district secretary N. Nageswara Rao and secretariat member P. Venkateshwara Rao also spoke at the meeting.
