Greater Noida: Residents of two gated societies in Greater Noida west have complained of faulty lift operations on Tuesday.
At Gaur Wisteria, a lift reportedly dropped from 7th floor to 5th floor and stopped with a sudden jerk due to which two women fell inside the lift. While at La Residentia, residents complained of a lift getting stalled for three hours in the morning.
Maintenance officers of both apartments deny any major issue, claiming the problem has been caused by disruption of power supply to the lifts.
According to residents and footage recorded within the lift at Gaur Wisteria, two ladies were shaken up by the sudden jolt with one of them falling down inside the lift. While the resident’s name has not been disclosed, she has reportedly suffered an ankle sprain in the incident.
“It wasn’t major, but a small jerk caused by fluctuating electricity. The lift is of high quality and is used safely by residents on a daily basis,” a company spokesperson said. At La Residentia, Techzone 4, reisdents complained that the single operational lift in their tower of 14 floors remained completely shut during school and office hours in the morning forcing the children and their parents to take the stairs.
The head of maintenance staff at the apartments, Binod Singh said, “There was a power outage resulting in the lift to come to a halt. There is no problem with the lift. The situation was immediately taken care of.” “It is a shame that most apartments are not being able to provide basic amenities like functional lifts. Residents pay high maintenance charges and should be given their due," Abhishek Kumar, president, Noida Extension Flat Owners Welfare Association (Nefowa) said.
