New Delhi, Union Minister for Drinking Water and Sanitation Uma Bharti has taken offence to Patanjali group founder Baba Ramdev comparing her performance for Ganga rejuvenation to that of incumbent minister for Water Resources and Ganga Rejuvenation, Mr Nitin Gadkari.
Apparently, Baba Ramdev while speaking on a TV channel in London, had alleged that files were not moving during Ms Bharti’s tenure while the pace picked up under Mr Gadkari.
Writing a letter to Baba Ramdev, which was also released to the media, Ms Bharti said she and Mr Gadkari were working together to cleanse the holy Ganga. ‘No comparison is possible in terms of speed as the project earlier was in planning stage and is now being executed,’ she had written.
Following the Cabinet reshuffle, Ms Bharti was shifted to Drinking Water and Sanitation Ministry in September last year.
Ms Bharti also went public with the letter stating, “I am confident your blessings will always be with me. Since you have made the remarks in public, I will also make the letter public.”
She had written that she found the comparison by Baba Ramdev weird. She, herself was an admirer of Mr Gadkari, she has said.
Ms Bharti wrote that while speaking on a TV channel, Baba did not pay attention that he was harming her personally and hurting her self-respect.
The Yoga Guru Ramdev tweeted on Sunday, “I have spiritual brother-sister relation with pujya Uma Bhartiji. I have no intention to hurt her. My intention was to indicate the preliminary and administrative problems of works relating to Ganga.”
He commended her dedication to river Ganga, dharma and the country.
