Vadodara: The cabin of a dump truck was gutted after it was mysteriously caught fire on the flyover in Fatehgunj on Tuesday afternoon.
According to fire department sources, they received a call at 2.10pm from a passerby, informing them about the fire in the dumper. The cabin was gutted before firemen from Vadiwadi fire station reached the spot. Eyewitnesses said the driver of the truck, which was headed towards Shastri Bridge from EME Circle, jumped out in the nick of time.
Because the truck was on fire in the middle of the road on the bridge, other vehicles had to turn back, resulting in a traffic jam on the bridge. Some locals later diverted vehicles before they approached the bridge.
Fire officials said they doused the fire in 30 minutes, but could not ascertain how the fire started.
