Protesting Walmart-Flipkart deal, workers of Samajwadi Party took out a rally here on Monday giving various slogans.

The party demanded scrapping of the May 9 deal between Walmart and Flipkart. Addressing the demonstrators, SP State unit president Rabi Behera said Walmart-Flipkart deal of 16 Billion Dollar  will destroy the retail business in India  for which 4 crore small traders will lose their business.

It will lead to destruction of livelihood of 20 crore people and the value system of Indian trading business, alleged Behera.  He said the history of Walmart says wherever it has started its business it has ruined the business ethics as well as livelihood of small traders.

The party demanded the intervention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to scrap the deal.  Notably, on May 9, as per a deal, the American conglomerate of 5 billion dollar worth Walmart has acquired 77 per cent of share of Bengaluru based  E-commerce company Flipkart to enter into retail business in India.

Though in the past Walmart has tried several times even bribing many politicians and top bureaucrats to enter into retail business in India, now finding a pro-corporate NDA Government in the country, the retail giant has entered the deal with Flipkart which will kill the livelihood of crores of small traders in the country, Behera alleged.
