NEW DELHI: Equity markets have stayed under pressure over the last week or so and the trend seems to continue as the Street opened flat on Tuesday with Asian bourses trading negative.

30-share BSE Sensex gained 80 points to open above the 35,300-mark but slipped soon after and was trading close to the 35,200-mark. The broader 50-share NSE Nifty also lost a key mark, that of 10,650 and was in the red.

Asian shares dropped in tentative morning trade on Tuesday as sentiment remained fragile in the face of tense trade relations between the United States and major economies, with investors braced for another potentially rocky day for Chinese markets.

Among sectoral sub-indices Nifty metal was down a per cent while the PSU Bank basket had also slipped in excess of 0.50 per cent.

Hero MotoCorp, ONGC and Reliance stocks were gaining the most.
