Nagpur: A day before the commencement of monsoon session of the state assembly, the helper to the personal assistant of Shiv Sena MLA Ramesh Latke was found dead at MLA hostel on Tuesday.
Vinod Agrawal, 53, was the helper to Latke’s PA Sandip Barkade.
Agrawal, a resident of Akola, had come to the city with Barkade. He was staying at MLA hostel’s room number 46, second wing. On Tuesday morning, Barkade tried calling Agrawal but he did not respond. Hence, Barkade went to MLA hostel to wake him up.
When Barkade reached the spot, the door of Agrawal’s room was locked from inside. He tried to call him but when Agrawal did not respond, Barkade called the caretaker of the hostel. When the caretaker peeked through the window of the room, he saw that Agrawal was lying upside down from his bed.
The caretaker broke open the door and called the resident doctor of MLA hostel, who pronounced Agrawal dead. Barkade then reported the incident to police inspector Atul Sabnis, who was on duty at the hostel. Sabnis then reported the incident to Sitabuldi police station. Cops rushed to the spot and the body was taken to a private hospital for post mortem.
Police sources claimed that Agrawal might have died of heart attack. Sitabuldi police have registered a case of accidental death. Family members of the deceased have been informed.
