TDP will a hold a day-long fast to press for its demand for a Railway zone with Visakhapatnam as headquarters at Gnanapuarm railway station on Wednesday.
Party general secretary Kothapalli Subbarayudu told reporters here on Monday that all party MPs, MLAs, MLCs, Ministers and ZP Chairperson would attend the fast from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Asserting that zone with Visakhapatnam as headquarters was the right of Andhra Pradesh, Mr. Subbarayudu accused the BJP Government of dragging its feet on the issue with only one year left for elections.
The setting up of a zone would spur further development in the industrial city and increase employment opportunities to youth, the TDP leader said.
Former corporator Mutyala Naidu, City Telugu Mahila president A. Vani and Lodagala Krishna were present.
