Scores of encroachments demolished in the ongoing drive

Scores of encroachments were demolished, more than a 100 were identified and two buildings were sealed as part of the anti-encroachment drive continuing in Dehradun on orders of the High Court of Uttarakhand.

Additional chief secretary Om Prakash informed that on Sunday, 67 encroachments were demolished by 320 workers. A total of 133 encroachments were identified by 788 workers and two buildings were also sealed. He said that work of removing encroachments was stepped up on Sunday considering the comparatively lesser pressure of traffic on the day. He said that wherever anti-encroachment drive was undertaken, traffic was diverted from that area to prevent disruption of traffic and enable smooth demolition work. He further said that general public is supporting the demolition drive against encroachments and hoped that public would continue to support the administration in this drive in the future also. He added that if those people whose buildings have been identified for demolition want to meet him, their problems will be solved as per the rules.  The anti-encroachment drive will be followed by the works of road widening and beautification, he added.

The anti-encroachment task force chief and Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) vice chairman Ashish Kumar Srivastav said that pillars are being erected at those placed which have been freed of encroachments so that no fresh encroachments are made till the planned widening of the roads.
