Dhule lynching: Maha CM announces Rs 5 lakh compensation for victims' kin |
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has announced a compensation of five lakh rupees for the kin of five persons allegedly killed by a mob in Dhule district yesterday. He described it as an unfortunate incident for society.
Dhule Police has arrested 23 people so far while a complaint has been filed against 30-35 people for murder and inciting violence. Dhule Superintendent of Police, M Ramkumar has informed that five police teams have been formed to nab the remaining culprits.
The incident took place in the tribal hamlet of Rainpada, about 325 km from Mumbai.
The lynching was apparently triggered by social media posts claiming that the victims were part of a gang of child lifters.
The deceased, however, belonged to a nomadic community and had come from Solapur in search of livelihood.
