Couple bashed in front of their Perth home as gangs feud
A Cannington couple was badly bashed after responding to a knock on their door as two gangs of men were fighting in front of their home in the early hours of Sunday.
Police claim two gangs of men were feuding outside the couple’s Crawford Street home between 12:30am and 12:50am when the 40-year-old man living at the house responded to a knock on the door.
One of the gangs had left the area, but the other group stayed and assaulted the man, knocking him to the ground. It’s alleged they continued to bash him while on the ground.
The man's 29-year-old partner rushed to his help but was also assaulted before the group fled in a car.
The couple was rushed to Fiona Stanley Hospital where the man was treated for a broken ankle and abrasion, while the woman had suffered bruising injuries.
Police were able to locate the group in nearby Elizabeth Street and they were arrested.
Two 18-year-old men and two 17-year-old boys were charged with intent to do grievous bodily harm and act or omission causing bodily harm. They will all front Perth’s Magistrates Court on Monday.
