The Congress party staged a protest demonstration at Gandhi Park here on Sunday to protest against suspension of teacher Uttara Bahuguna. Pradesh Congress Committee president Pritam Singh headed the protest which was also attended by former Chief Minister Harish Rawat and other party leaders.

Speaking at the protest site, the party leaders said that the manner in which the chief minister had behaved with a lady teacher had been very disappointing.

They stressed that considering the particulars of the case, her request should have been considered and acted upon without fuss.

They rejected BJP allegations about the Congress politicising the issue while stressing that the Congress is protesting in support of justice.

Later in the day, a party delegation led by the PCC president also visited Uttara Bahuguna at her residence. They sought all information from her regarding her situation and the recent incident at the Chief Minister’s Janata Darbar programme.

The delegation assured her that the Congress will continue to support her in her valid fight for justice and is ready to provide all possible cooperation to her.

Bahuguna informed the PCC chief in detail about the incident and her issues while also thanking the party for coming to her support in this case.
