Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal, Monsoon is currently not much active in the state. Heavy rainfall is not expected in the next 3-4 days. During this period only light rainfall is expected.
The monsoon had entered the state about a week back. Good rainfall was recorded at many places in the state after the monsoon’s entry. However, only sporadic rainfall has been recorded in the last two days. Capital Bhopal has not received any significant amount of rainfall in the last two days.
On Sunday the weather remained dry and sunny and the mercury soared as the sun shone brightly. According to the Indian Meteorological Department, the monsoon trough has further shifted northwards today. It is likely to shift further northwards along the foothills of the Himalayas and remain there during next 34 days.
The axis of monsoon trough at mean sea level continues to pass through Firozpur, Meerut, Lucknow, Muzaffarpur, Purnea, Guwahati and thence eastwards to east Nagaland.
Consequently, rainfall activity is very likely to occur at most places with isolated heavy to very heavy falls over northern parts of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Punjab, Haryana & Chandigarh, Western Himalayan region and extremely heavy falls at isolated places over SubHimalayan West Bengal & Sikkim and north eastern states during next 3 days.
Heavy to very heavy rain with extremely heavy falls occurred at isolated places over SubHimalayan West Bengal & Sikkim; heavy to very heavy at isolated places over Assam & Meghalaya and heavy rain at isolated places over East Uttar Pradesh and Arunachal Pradesh.
However monsoon remained subdued in central India including Madhya Pradesh with only light rainfall occurring at some places.
Monsoon will remain subdued during the next 2-3 days in the state. The weatherman said thundershowers could occur at isolated places in Jabalpur, Sagar, Shahdol, Chambal, Hoshangabad and Indore divisions during the next 24 hours. Weather would mainly remain dry at the remaining places in the state.
