Mini has updated its range of petrol vehicles to make them more enjoyable to drive while also emitting fewer emissions.
As of July 2018, Mini will install particulate filters in all petrol-powered versions of the Mini 3 door, Mini 5 door, Mini Convertible, Mini Clubman, and Mini Countryman. According to the automaker, the use of this emission control allows all the vehicles to meet the requirements of the Europe 6d-TEMP emission standard. Diesel models have met this standard since March.
Elsewhere, Mini will introduce a seven-speed Steptronic dual clutch transmission as an option on its models from this month. Beyond offering all the expected features like start/stop, this transmission can work alongside the navigation system to adapt the gear changes to the route for maximum efficiency.
When the new models are outfitted with this transmission, alongside the aforementioned particulate filter, fuel efficiency improves. From July 2018, the Mini One Clubman and Mini Cooper Clubman return a combined 5.7-liters per 100 km. The Mini Cooper S Clubman delivers 5.8-liters per 100 km while the Mini One Countryman sips 5.9-liters per 100 km, as does the Mini Cooper Countryman. The Mini Cooper S Countryman is the most fuel-hungry of the bunch, drinking 6.0-liters per 100 km.
Mini has also introduce a new Connectivity Package for the Mini Clubman from July 2018. Included in this package is an optional 8.8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, and navigation. A 12-speaker Harmon Kardon sound system completes the Connectivity Package.
Last but not least is the introduction of automatic driving lights control across the range.
