Five members of a gang were arrested from Keshav Puram for allegedly duping job seekers on the pretext of getting them jobs in the Railways, the police said on Sunday.
The five accused have been identified as Mohd Iqbal, Yash Malik, Lalit Saini, Mohd Irshad and Neeraj Yadav, they said. Fake job letters, government letterheads, pamphlets, ₹6.58 lakh and two cars were seized from them.
The gang is accused of duping hundreds of people across the country and deposited the money in various bank accounts using forged documents.
“During interrogation, the accused revealed that they ran a call centre in Keshav Puram. Besides a fake website, they employed nearly 30 people, mainly college girls, as call centre executives. The accused also had over 50 mobile numbers, all taken using fake documents,” the police said.
“These executives would contact people who registered on the fake website in search of government jobs.”
