Information and Broadcasting Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore today accused Congress leader of spreading falsehood, refuting his charge that Rs 35 lakh had been spent on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's fitness video.
Rathore took to Twitter to rebut Tharoor and took a swipe at him saying "not a single lamb was sacrificed" for the video.
"Not surprised Mr Shashi Tharoor, falsehoods is your substitute for facts.
"No money was spent for PM's fitness video. It was recorded by the PMO videographer. This article is based on 'solid proof' of hearsay.
"And I assure you, Sir, not a single 'lamb' was sacrificed for the video, let alone 35!??," he tweeted.
Earlier in the day, the Congress leader had tweeted a news report alleging that a sum of Rs 20 crore was spent by the Ayush Ministry on Yoga day advertisements, with Rs 35 lakh spent alone on the prime minister's fitness video shot at his official residence.
"20 crore rupees in ads for #YogaDay, 35 lambs for @PMOIndia's fitness video! Disgraceful. This government is all about smoke & mirrors. Hype is their substitute for hope -- the hopes they have destroyed," Thaoor had tweeted earlier, tagging a media report along with it.
A week before the Yoga Day, the Prime Minister had on June 13 tweeted a video of him performing yoga at the lawns of his official residence.
"Here are moments from my morning exercises. Apart from Yoga, I walk on a track inspired by the 'panchtatvas' or five elements of nature - Prithvi, Jal, Agni, Vayu, Aakash. This is extremely refreshing and rejuvenating. I also practice breathing exercises. #HumFitTohIndiaFit"," the Prime Minister had tweeted along with the video.
