Hyundai Kona Gains Diesel Variant In The UK, Priced From £19,750

Hyundai has announced pricing details of Kona’s diesel-powered version, starting from £19,750 in the UK, approximately £5,245 less than the all-electric model.

Spending £19,750 will land you the entry-level SE 1.6 CRDi 116 PS version with the 6-speed manual transmission. At the other end of the spectrum is the Premium SE 1.6 CRDi 136 PS model with an automatic transmission, which will set you back at least £24,750, about as much as the Kona Electric.

The diesel-powered Hyundai Kona uses a newly-developed 1.6-liter CRDi unit that’s available with either 113hp (116PS) or 134hp (136PS). Both models are offered with front-wheel drive only. CO2 emissions are as low as 111g/km

Whichever spec you chose, safety equipment such as the Driver Attention Alert, Lane Keeping Assist, Hill Start Assist Control and Downhill Brake Control is available as standard.

Also at no extra cost come the 17-inch alloy wheels, body colored bumpers, door handles and wing mirrors, as well as the rear spoiler with integrated LED brake light. Inside, there’s manual air conditioning, cruise control with speed limiter, electrically adjustable and heated mirrors and a 7″ LCD center console display with DAB, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

Premium spec models get 18-inch alloys, a chrome surround to the black front grille, Anthracite finished side body garnish, silver rear skid plate and side body mouldings. Convenience features include climate control, automatic dimming rear view mirror, auto wipers, Smart Key with keyless entry, engine start/stop button, a KRELL audio system and a larger 8-inch touchscreen display with sat-nav and LIVE services. A wireless phone charging pad is also available.

As for the flagship Kona Premium SE version, it comes with leather seat facings, electrically-adjustable driver and passenger seats (also heated and ventilated), heated steering wheel, power folding door mirrors, front parking sensors, a Heads-Up Display, Blind Spot Detection and Lane Keeping Assist.

The Hyundai Kona diesel is available in a choice of eight external colors, with Galactic Gray coming at no extra cost. Meanwhile, Chalk White, Lake Silver, Blue Lagoon, Acid Yellow, Pulse Red, Tangerine Comet and Phantom Black, which have either metallic or pearl finishes, are £565 options. Both the Premium and Premium SE specs can also be ordered with a £420 two-tone roof.
